The work consists generally of supplying of all labour, materials, and equipment necessary
for the excavation, installation of watermain, sanitary, and storm sewer, backfilling of
watermain, sanitary, and storm sewer, and full street reconstruction consisting of new
concrete curb, sidewalk, road-bed granular materials, asphalt pavement, and other
reinstatement on Highland Road from Belleview Avenue to McLellan Street. The work also
consists of the renewal of a section of storm sewer, backfilling of storm sewer, and trench
reinstatement on Pokiok Road from approximately Civic 22 to the intersection of Pokiok
Road and Belleview Avenue.
More specifically, the project consists of the supply and installation of approximately:
 Storm sewer – 91 lineal meters of 375mm diameter, 128 meters of 300mm diameter,
12 meters of 250mm diameter, 70 meters of 450mm diameter, 10 catch basins, 9
manholes, service installations, and associated appurtenances;
 Water main - 90 lineal meters of 200mm diameter, 6 meters of 150mm diameter,
service renewals, bends, fittings, valves, complete temporary water service, and
associated appurtenances;
 Sanitary sewer - 90 lineal meters of 300mm diameter, service renewals, and
associated appurtenances;
 160 lineal meters of regular and dropped concrete curbing;
 82 lineal meters of 1.5m wide concrete sidewalk, 5 square meters of variable width
concrete sidewalk;
 1,260 cubic meters of common excavation for road reconstruction;
 775 cubic meters of imported gravel sub-base and 252 cubic meters of imported
gravel base for street reconstruction;
 203 tonnes of Superpave 12.5 and 110 tonnes of Superpave 9.5 machine placed;
 142 tonnes of Superpave 12.5 and 15 tonnes of Superpave 9.5 handwork;
 Landscaping restoration, reinstatement of roadway signage;
 Other related work all as shown on the Drawings and described in these
specifications.
This project is to be completed in accordance with the City of Saint John’s 2025
General Specifications.
